Checking Access

To check your access to data on BioData Catalyst:

Through the public website:

Go to the “Accessing BioData Catalyst Data” webpage (https://biodatacatalyst.nhlbi.nih.gov/resources/data) and click the “ Check Access” button using eRA Commons credentials.

Through the BioData Catalyst powered by Gen3 platform:

Go to https://gen3.biodatacatalyst.nhlbi.nih.gov/ and check your data access on the Profile Page by “Login from NIH.” Note whether you have access to all the datasets you expect.

Users can see projects they have access to when selecting Data with Access. Data without Access shows data where users do not have subject-level access but summary statistics can be accessed. All Data shows all projects but also where users have no access to (a lock will appear). The default is set to Data with Access. Users can request access to data by visiting the dbGaP homepage. Through the BioData Catalyst powered by Seven Bridges platform:

Go to https://platform.sb.biodatacatalyst.nhlbi.nih.gov/ and login to check your data access by:

  1. Clicking on your username in the top right-hand corner

  2. Selecting the tab for Data Access

  3. Look for green check marks next to the datasets you expect to have access to.

Through the BioData Catalyst powered by Terra platform:

You do not need to check your data access on BioData Catalyst powered by Terra. But before submitting a help desk ticket, please ensure that you’ve done the following steps:

Establish a link in BioData Catalyst powered by Terra (https://terra.biodatacatalyst.nhlbi.nih.gov/) to your eRA Commons/NIH Account and the University of Chicago DCP Framework. To link eRA Commons, NIH, and DCP Framework Services, go to your Profile page in BioData Catalyst powered by Terra and log in with your NIH credentials.

Through the BioData Catalyst powered by PIC-SURE platform:

You do not need to check your data access on BioData Catalyst powered by PIC-SURE. Please refer back to the public website to check your data access (https://biodatacatalyst.nhlbi.nih.gov/resources/data) and click the “ Check Access” button using eRA Commons credentials.
